When you’re traveling with your children in Mexico and looking for accommodation during your stay, you’ll need to take into account a hotel’s policies in relation to the number of people allowed in the room, as well as the hotel’s age policy.
Some Mexican hotels and resorts cater exclusively for adults and, if they do, this point is made clear on the information about the hotel as well as the booking screen. If you telephone us to make a reservation, the customer service agent will advise you if a particular hotel prohibits children attending the property.
Most hotels in Mexico with family-friendly policies define children as persons under the age of twelve years and allow them to stay free in the room, when accompanied by an adult. The limit is most often two children per room.
Hotels also limit the number of people per room, notwithstanding their age. Most properties limit a room’s maximum occupancy to three adults, and will make an additional charge for the third guest. Some hotels offer “family rooms”, which accommodate up to four adults comfortably and the daily rate varies depending on whether two, three or four people occupy the room.
We recently encountered a customer – a couple with two adolescent children – who wanted to share one room, but the hotel they preferred would only allow a maximum of three “adults” in the room. In this circumstance, the customer needed to rent two rooms or pay an additional fee for a family room at a hotel which was not their preference.
Each hotel lays out its own rules and policies in regard to the type and age of guests it allows to stay at its property; Mexperience does not influence nor have the ability to waive these policies.
The information we provide about hotels clearly states what a hotel’s family policy is and our online booking system will ask about the number and type of guests at the time of reservation, including the ages of any children traveling with you. We have to do this to comply with each hotel’s booking policy.
If you’re unsure about which hotel in Mexico may be right for you and your family when you’re looking online, you may telephone our sales team who will be pleased to provide advice and make the booking for you over the phone. We offer toll-free reservations from Canada, the USA and Mexico, and the number to call is situated adjacent to the hotel’s information page.
