Day of the Dead —that is a celebration of the continuity of life— is one of Mexico’s most important religious holidays on November 1st and 2nd. November 2nd is a public holiday.  Traditions include ofrendas, artistic Catrina skulls, delicious pan de muerto, cemeteries dressed in Cempaxochitl flowers, and a Mexican version of Trick or Treat. If you live in Mexico, consider stocking up on some sweet treats as children may be calling door-to-door around their local neighborhoods asking for their Calaverita to be fed.

The annual rain season is passing: Mexico’s rain season, that affects much of the mainland (but not the Baja peninsula) typically begins in May/June and ends in October, sometimes spilling into November.  We publish a collection of articles that help you discover Mexico through the seasons. Residency applications using the RNE procedure: We’ve had a jump in the volume of emails asking about Mexico’s special procedure for residency granted under the ‘RNE’ program—that offers people in Mexico with expired visitor permits and who have visited Mexico before 2022 to apply for residency in Mexico without the need to meet economic solvency criteria. We’re keeping our article about applying for RNE regularly updated and we’ve also added an FAQ.
